It’s a man’s nature to desire sex, multiple partners, and spread his DNA as widely as possible. That’s just how it is. You see this in the animal kingdom in countless places.  Male lions will even kill the cubs of a female they didn’t impregnate because they don’t want a rival’s DNA in their pride. Men, in most cases, differ from animals in that we have a choice to remain faithful or not.  Cheating for a man is an emotional decision that many times takes place in the moment mere hours or even minutes before the act itself.  A man’s resolve to remain faithful can be affected by a number of factors depending primarily on what type of man he is. Regular, hard working guys’ cheating habits differ from those of the exceptionally good looking wealthy, alpha male types like Tiger Woods. Regular guys are missing something in their relationships and may cheat to fill a need, like spicing up a monotonous existence. Alpha males cheat because, for them, women are like potato chips at a super bowl party. He’s going to have some simply because they’re there and easily accessible.

Regular, hard working guys cheat because something’s missing at home or in their daily lives. Their wives may not pay them attention or appreciate how hard they work to maintain a household. She may have stopped having sex with him, or they have boring sex infrequently. A regular guy’s life can become routine very easily as he runs on life’s gerbil wheel. This guy’s propensity to cheat increases if a woman outside of his home happens to begin to pay him attention, or offers him sex. This can happen at work, on a business trip, at a bar, or in the grocery store. A newly interested woman makes this guy feel rejuvenated and alive. Some men have only one or two episodes of infidelity under these circumstances, usually when things are shaky at home. These opportunities don’t present themselves that often to this type of man unless he’s an aggressive regular guy always on the lookout for action. The aggressive regular guy might become addicted to the excitement of meeting different women; and without sounding too crass, the feeling of new pussy never gets old for some.

Alpha males are a bit different. An alpha male’s desire to remain faithful is challenged by how frequently and easily women volunteer themselves. Chris Rock said it in his comedy routine. “A man is only as faithful as his options.”  An alpha male’s options are many, and are a function of his charisma, looks, wealth, power, and fame. These factors can each stand alone or combine to create an even more volatile atmosphere for potential infidelity. This is where someone with a dream life like Tiger Woods comes in. In high school, he was a skinny nerd that was good at an unpopular sport and he didn’t date the prom queen. Then he bulked up, made all the money in the world, and ascended instantly to alphamaledome with women coming at him left and right.  The bottom line is, he was presented with unlimited options and went down in the biggest hot flaming mess imaginable because he couldn’t handle it. It’s not impossible for a regular guy or alpha male to be faithful. The only defense against infidelity is for a man to have a special physical and spiritual connection to his woman. This bond strengthens the resolve of both men and women to remain faithful.
